Taraweeh prayer is not obligatory (Fard) but a confirmed Sunnah (Sunnah Mu’akkadah). The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) offered it and encouraged the companions to pray it, but he did not make it compulsory upon the Ummah. Scholars clearly explain that when people ask, نماز تراویح فرض ہے یا سنت, the correct answer is that it is a Sunnah with great reward.
